Step 3: Assembly

Prepare the DC stepdown module

You can set the stepdown converter to 12v in 2 ways. use the dail on the front side or solder the 12v pins on the backside of the converter. If you solder the 12v pins, don’t forget to cut the small ADJ line using a knife. Take a multimeter, to ensure the connection is open.

Should look something like this if the connection of ADJ is cut.

Solder 3 wires to:

VO+ ( red wire about 3-4cm )

GND (black wire about 6-7cm)

IN+ (red wire about 3-4cm)

Mount the switch and the charging port into the “Bottom Lid” print.

Solder 1 pin of the switch to the + (positive) pin of the charging socket

Solder the IN+ (red wire) from the stepdown converter to the other pin of the switch.

Solder a black wire to the free pins of the charging port. Solder a plug (same connection type as your battery has) to the + wire and the outer – wire of the charging port.

The black wire from the DC converter you can connect to the middle pin of the charging port, ensure that you open the wire a bit in the middle, we need to connect the socket of the lamp there later.

You can do it the way i did, using 2 short wires. But trust me if i say its hard to connect 3 wires together using 2 hands 😉

The stepdown converter can be guarded using a shrink sleeve and glued to the base or between the switch and the socket using hot glue.

Put the lamp socket through the holder (remove the ring inside it’s just support for printing)

connect the 2 wires of the lamp to the free + and – wires of the Bottom Lid.

Connect the battery and put the lamp into the socket to test it before you put everything in the case.

If it worked, we can put everything together.

Put the battery upside down into Battery Top print where the lamp socket if mounted to.

The Bottom Battery print on the other side.

The wires from the lamp go through the small holes and slots in the print

Now put the spacer between the Bottom Lid and Battery Bottom print.

The trickiest part is to get everything into the case, be careful.

Now take the lid and press it onto the case.

Congratulations, have fun with your Party Light 😉
